Tools You Need To Start A Blog

Haven’t started your blog yet? Read my tutorial on How To Start A Successful Blog In 3 Easy Steps for an in-depth guide on how to get your blog up and running in less than 24 hours. Here are the three components you need to create the perfect blog from scratch:

Get Website Hosting

Going self-hosted is the best thing you can do for your blog and it can cost as little as $2.95 a month. For new bloggers, I highly recommend Bluehost, the hosting company I use, as it also comes with a free domain for the first year.

Choose A Domain Name

The second thing you need in order to launch your blog is your URL. If yours isn’t included in the hosting package, you will need to purchase one separately and Name Cheap has the best offers, (as low as $10).

Pick A Website Theme

The last thing you need to make everything fall into place is a blog theme. The Bluchic Worpdress theme shop is my favorite place to go theme shopping as their themes are all stunning + mobile friendly. I also love the Angie Makes themes.

Essential Blogging Tools

Blogging doesn’t only require time and a set amount of skills but also resources and behind the scenes tools that make the magic happen. Here are a few of the amazing programs and tools I personally use to run my blog & business every single day. Check them out and find a few essential resources for yourself.

Key Search

KeySearch is an SEO tool that packs a lot of punch for an affordable price (and the one I use!). Finding better keywords for your articles can help your SEO efforts and gain more traffic. Use the discount code “ANA20” to save 20% off any of their plans.

Rank IQ

An SEO toolset is built just for bloggers. It tells you what keywords to put in your post so you can write SEO-optimized content. They also have a hand-picked library of the lowest competition high traffic keywords for every niche.

Google Analytics

The tool I use to track how many visitors I get on my blog, where they come from, and what they read while they were here. Read my Blogger’s Guide To Google Analytics for more information.

Because English is not my first language, I am always in need of a proofreader or grammar checker (just to double-check my work) and Grammarly does both of those things for me. You can add it to chrome with one click and the rest is history. And did I mention that it’s free?

Jasper AI

Use this artificial intelligence writing tool to draft intros, conclusions, blog post outlines or entire articles in minutes (literally!). Read my Jasper tutorial here.

Resource Library

A Tools & Resources page template that’s going to help you build a page just like this one for your blog in minutes. Increase your affiliate sales & show off your favorite products to your blog readers.

The free drag & drop page builder I use to build my homepage, sales pages for my digital products and even this page right here. Use it for free or upgrade to PRO for more useful features used by bloggers.

Every blogger and content creator should know SEO and understand how to implement it on their website. This eBook teaches that in easy to understand terms, and with its help I’ve ranked nr #1 on Google with a brand new blog.

Essential WordPress Plugins

Going self-hosted comes with some awesome advantages. The fact that you can find and choose plugins perfectly crafted for your blog’s purpose is one of them. Here are 4 of the 10 must-have WordPress plugins that every blogger should install for their blog < be sure to check the full list here:

Wordfence Security is by far the best security plugin out there and has personally saved me from thousands of malicious attacks and attempted logins by hackers – just by using the free version. It’s an absolute must-have WordPress plugin for all bloggers, but especially useful if you take any sort of payment on your website or you make money from it.

Updraft Plus is another essential WordPress plugin that allows you to safely store back-ups of your website (automatically) and restore them if needed.
